The Education Support Program is a key pillar of the core agenda of the Association for Under-Privileged People (AUP). Since our inception in 1998, education has been the cornerstone of our mission to empower underprivileged communities in Bangladesh across Chandpur, Comilla and Dhaka. This program reflects our deep commitment to breaking the cycle of poverty through education, which is fully guided by AUP’s central mission. Our determination to simply give every child a chance to rise.
Our educational efforts took shape in 2002 through the AUP Education Program, which was launched in partnership with BRAC to provide Non-Formal Primary Education (NFPE) until 2011. From 2011 to 2018, we have maintained this with AUP’s own funding, establishing 20 model schools that have become important centers for rural education. Since 2018, the program has been funded by the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) through the Samriddhi program, which has continued to have an impact. It will help keep slow learners and dropouts on the right track.
Looking to the future, we aim to increase our reach and modernize our approach. We plan to expand literacy classes in underserved areas, facilitate children’s access to formal schooling by introducing digital learning tools like tablets and online lessons. Imagine a child in Comilla mastering their first word or a student in Chandpur keeping up with their peers – this is the future we are creating. With the Samriddhi support of PKSF since 2018, this program has remained a lifeline, empowering disadvantaged youth to dream beyond their circumstances and contribute to the development of Bangladesh.
