The Women Development program is a key initiative under the Association for Under-privileged People (AUP), dedicated to empowering women across Bangladesh. This program is led by a Women’s Leadership Committee, an associate body of AUP that operates with complete independence. Registered with the Bangladesh Women’s Development Department under the number J.M.B.K.K.A/Reg:/Dhaka/130, approved on 4 March 2025, this committee functions autonomously, separate from AUP’s direct oversight, while contributing to our mission of uplifting underprivileged communities. Its efforts reach women in various locations nationwide, unrestricted by specific districts or divisions.

The Women’s Leadership Committee was formed to address critical women’s issues—economic inequality, skill shortages, and limited leadership opportunities. Since its registration earlier this year, it has started creating a platform to support women’s advancement, drawing inspiration from AUP’s broader work in microfinance and health. Looking ahead, the committee plans to offer vocational training in areas like tailoring and handicrafts, host leadership workshops to build confidence and decision-making skills, and provide small grants to start income-generating projects. These initiatives aim to foster financial independence, strengthen women’s community roles, and overcome barriers like restricted access to resources.

Imagine a woman in a rural area launching a handicraft business or a city resident leading a local effort—the committee is making such stories possible. As an independent associate of AUP, it is paving the way for women across Bangladesh to thrive and shape their futures.
